As for the other assignment - choosing an NGO from the list featured on NGO Resource Centre Vietnam, the NGO that caught my interest was the Information & Communications Technology for Development Working Group, or ICT4DEVWG for short (that is if you can actually consider ICT4DEVWG short LOL).

The ultimate goal of this group is to "help develop and maximise the benefits arising from the increased and more effective use of information and communication technology (ICT) within the development community in Vietnam." They intend to do it by raising the quality of ICT usage in Vietnam NGOs through events such as consultation, workshops, discussions, speeches, and resource sharing.

The reasons why I chose ICT4DEVWG despite its ridiculously long shortcut name that forces me to copy and paste each time:

• I'm interested in high-tech stuffs. Anything that has to do with the computer fascinates me, and I truly believe that Internet can help make our world a better place, even if that better place is a little bit more confusing and error-ridden. If I were to establish my own NGO, 8 out of 10 times I would make it something related to IT, and 10 out of 10 times I would make sure to utilize some computer literacy in my NGO's work.
• ICT4DEVWG's aim of helping other NGOs sound interesting to me. An NGO to help other NGOs, now that's something innovative, and necessary, especially if managements at NGOs are having as many troubles as listed in my latest reading. Though after the whole urban development theory last week, I have learned to take these academic conclusions with a pinch of salt.

Hai, that's about it for today's edit of this entry. It's that short because I have unfortunately exhausted all of my writing energy with the story about The Manor, plus I have a presentation waiting for me, as well as a chapter to read in my Bank Management textbook. Not to mention, I still haven't managed to make any progress with the wallpaper I'm trying to do.

I'm looking forward to the class on Thursday, but not quite to the bia hoi part after the class. I have a strong tendency to detest noisy places, and bia hoi restaurant is one of those places *sigh* That's me being antisocial again...
